About me

I am a second year PhD student in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School, co-advised by Dr. Pranav Rajpurkar and Dr. Eliezer Van Allen. I graduated with a B.Tech in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2020, along with the Institute Silver Medal for highest GPA in the department.

In my PhD, I have developed clinically relevant evaluation frameworks for LLMs based on doctor-patient conversations, leading to the identification of critical gaps in current models. I am also interested in developing multimodal foundational models for improving medical diagnosis and treatment outcomes. Particularly, I am focused on early-cancer detection during endoscopic procedures, and understanding how genetic predispositions are related to immunotherapy response in cancer patients.

Previously, I have developed statistical methods to address patient specific biases in single-cell differential expression analysis, and studied tumor-immune interactions in single-cell RNA sequencing cancer datasets.

My research is supported by the Quad Fellowship and Microsoft Accelerating Foundation Models Research Grant. I am also a prior recipient of the 2018 Cargill Global Scholarship.

Extra-currics: I am an Editor at Science in the News, Boston (SITN) and concurrently also write articles for the platform. My most recent one can be found here. I have also delivered seminar lectures aimed at making latest scientific advancements accessible to the general public.

In the past, I have been actively involved with the Board for Student Publications at IIT Delhi (General Secretary in 2019-2020, Chief Editor in 2018-2019, Journalist in 2017-2018), and have contributed to numerous literary and journalistic articles. I derive immense satisfaction from mentorship and was awarded the Best Mentor Award in 2019 by IIT Delhi. I am also trained in Taekwondo, and hold a Black Belt (Dan I).

Outreach: I am deeply passionate about fostering the enthusiasm of young girls to embark on careers in STEM. Towards this goal, I co-wrote a children’s storybook, Science Adventures, with the help of Generative AI. This is a small step towards enhancing the presence of female protagonists within narratives centered around science. I am always looking to connect with people who share similar interests.

I am always eager to collaborate on new research projects, exchange ideas and broaden my horizons. If you’re interested in working together, please reach out via email!
